Sari watched as, everyday; the crack that was tiny grew bigger and bigger. Soon, the crack stretched all the way from the top to the bottom. Sari watched the egg intently, waiting for something to come out. The crack widened with every passing second until you could see the creature inside, all curled up. The egg pieces suddenly fell to the sides to reveal… a dragon? Sari stumbled backward. She couldn’t believe what she saw. It was a dragon. A blue one with green wings and a spiky tail speckled with red. “Whoa.” Sari muttered. She was sure that she was dreaming. She rubbed her eyes and looked again. The little fellow was still sitting there, smiling.

Chapter 2: Tiny Crack
Sari looked around and decided to make a camp. She tucked the egg into her sweater and started in search of a camp. Her legs ached when she finally reached a clearing with a small cave. But her heart was pounding with excitement about what would hatch out of the egg. She huddled against the walls of the cave to keep warm. With her arms still wrapped around the sweater that held the egg, she fell asleep.
Sari awoke to the sound of twittering birds. It sounded like they were calling her name. “Sa-ri! Sa-ri! Sa-ri!” Sari smiled and got up, putting the egg gently on the ground with her sweater still wrapped around it. She picked some berries she had left in a bowl of water and popped them into her mouth. Sari chewed slowly, and then swallowed. She then walked over to a nearby stream and washed her face. Sari yawned, stood up, and walked back to camp.
Sari walked into the cave and un-wrapped the egg. That was when she saw the tiny crack. Right on top of the egg.
